Gonçalo Silva is a biologist and a researcher at Ispa – Instituto Universitário/ MARE – Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, in Portugal. His research is focused on the ecology and evolution of marine fishes. He studies the impacts of human activities on marine systems centered on climate, conservation and management, to better understand patterns and processes that occur in wild populations. This work supports conservation measures, namely the designation, implementation and monitoring of marine protected areas, as well as the study and management of species and habitats of conservation concern.
